the tank and the inkling, and probably the weapon too, are just made of more solid ink, i'd imagine it just flows trough them. i mean the inklings, and their gear, including the weapon and ink tank all just mesh together when they turn into squids, which are just a less solid form of ink than when they're in their kid form, i'd imagine.
